Samuel R. Piper,78, of Parkesburg, passed away at the Pocopson Home on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.  He was the beloved husband of Margaret D. Piper, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Fred W. and Brenice Brown Piper. Sam proudly served his Country in the US Navy from 1955 to 1957.  He was employed by E. H. Keen & Son for 43 years and later worked for Whitelock and Woerth for 3 1/2 years.  He attended Calvary Church in Lancaster.  Sam enjoyed bowling and golf.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, James R. Piper and wife Julie of Newtown, April L., wife of William Schaffer of Bernville and Charles S, Piper and wife Linda  of Lancaster, three grandchildren; Andrew Schaffer, Savannah Piper and Abigail Piper and two brothers; Wilson Piper of Downingtown and Franklin Piper of Romansville. He was preceded in death by five siblings; Winifred Phillips, Shirley Knotts, Leroy, Donald and Harlan Piper.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at the East Brandywine Baptist Cemetery. Viewing from 9:30am to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Parkesburg Point, PO Box 731, Parkesburg, PA 19365.

Sorry too hear of the passing of Sam , I knew Sam and Margaret through marriage with Andrea knotts aunt and uncle, I just wanna say im sorry to hear. .and wanna pray for chuck and his family at this difficult time , may God comfort the piper family. In Jesus name amen.

So sorry to hear this news.  Sam was such a nice person and would do anything for you.  He always had that smile and pleasant attitude even if I called after hours to fix my heater.  He and Maggie raised three great children.  R.I.P Sam.

Dear Margaret and Family, We send our condolences to you. Sam was the Man he was always so happy and did his job well. Kev and I really enjoyed his company. The problem with a heater he could fix it, always pleasant. Sam will be sadly missed by all. Sending our Continued Prayers to the Family, so sorry to hear of your Loss. Dear Margaret and Family,

I am certain that Bill welcomed him too.I will pray that all the paper work goes through without much difficulty!! Aunt Margaret and family,

I was so sorry to hear about Uncle Sam's passing.  We can take peace in the fact that he's with mom (Aunt Jane) in heaven now, and all his siblings who passed before.  He was a wonderful person, and I know mom and dad loved their time with you and him.
