Richard M. Jones
Richard M. Jones, born on October 4, 1935, in Steelton, PA, peacefully departed this world on February 28, 2024 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. He was the beloved son of Charles and Reba (Dangler) Jones. Richard shared 47 years of marriage with his beloved Charmaine (Madrigale) Jones until her passing in 2007.
In the embrace of his family, Richard leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven R. Jones, finding solace in the love of his surviving son, William H. Proffit, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A devoted grandfather, Richard raised three grandchildren: Casandra Jones (Bruce Jennings), Brittany Jones, and Brandon Jones, all residing in Coatesville. He found immense joy in spending time with his six great-grandchildren: Brayden, Destiny, Isaiah, Makayla, Brody, and Serenity. Weekend sleepovers and trips to McDonald's, Croppers Market, and the Campground Store with his great-grandchildren were the highlights of his life, bringing him immense joy and purpose.
As a young man, Richard served his Country honorably during the Korean War as a member of the United States Army, later receiving an honorable discharge. In the 1950s, he journeyed to Coatesville for employment at Lukens Steel. Eventually, he transitioned to driving tractor-trailers.
Coatesville became Richard's home where he met Charmaine, his true love. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and unwavering devotion. Even after her passing, Richard faithfully visited Charmaine's grave daily, a testament to his enduring love.
Richard's vibrant presence illuminated every room he entered. With his quick wit and endless jokes, he kept everyone on their toes (unsure of what he would say next), leaving smiles on faces wherever he went.
In addition to his immediate family, Richard M. Jones was also preceded in death by his siblings, Wilbur, Charles (Chuck), Audrey and Ruth Ann. He is survived by his living siblings, Eddie Donald and Reba Mae.
Richard M. Jones will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA. Friends and family are invited to greet the family from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Northwood Cemetery in Downingtown.

Sending love and prayers to family from afar …
Sending love and prayers from afar. Although I may not be able to be present in person I am there in spirit. Uncle Dick has been a blessing in my life. He has helped out in a number of situations as I was growing up and I am thankful for his help. We all have challenges in our own personal lives and Uncle Dick was no exception but his heart was a heart of pure gold and that is what is most important. Thank you Uncle Dick for all your help and for your life.
