Ralph S. Miller, 86, of Parkesburg, died on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Elsmere V.A. Hospital in Wilmington, DE. Ralph was born in Atglen and was the son of the late Norman Sr. and Elsie Jane Boots Miller.
He had lived in this area all his life and had served in the US Army during W.W.II in N. Africa and had received the American Campaign Metal, European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign Metal with two Bronze Stars and the W.W.II Victory Metal.
As a child he attended the Mt. Zion AME Church of Atglen and was a member of the Coatesville VFW # 2402 and also a member of the former Parkesburg Sportmans Club.
He was employed by the Irwin Textile Company in Atglen.
He is survived by a brother, Norman Miller of West Chester; and his nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, with the Rev. Dr. Melvin D. Wayns officiating. Interment will follow in the Atglen MT. Zion AME Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 noon until 1 PM.
