Polly C. Bernard, 91, of Martins Corner, PA, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.  She was the wife of Norman T. Bernard for over 70 years.  Born in Martinsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Ollie Cruise Nichols.

Polly had worked for a short time at General Chemical Co. shipping department in Marcus Hook, PA.  She was a member of Wagontown Union Chapel and a lifetime member (45 years) of the Martins Corner Fire Company Auxiliary. She was passionate about the value of all things family and never missed a chance to host a large event or a small intimate gathering. The cabins/forest/river at Cooks Forest State Park was a highly valued yearly extended family event for over 61 years. When not in the mountains, she enjoyed camping in her travel trailer across the east coast as well as repeated stays in Myrtle Beach, SC and Chicoteague/Asateague, VA. Additionally, getting lost in a good book, being part of a card club, crocheting and frequenting Red Lobster rounded off her hobbies. Making deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese, banana pudding and peach cobbler are just a few of her food specialties. Sitting outside in the summer on her back porch swing was her ultimate end to a beautiful day.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Joseph (Charlotte) Bernard, James (Kathy) Bernard, and Paul (Kristin) Bernard, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned at Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 West Kings Highway, Coatesville, PA 19320 on Friday, June 9th., 11:00am with a luncheon immediately following at the church.  Flowers can be sent directly to the church (Polly loved flowers) or feel free to make a donation to Wagontown Union Chapel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, PA. Online condolence can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

Condolences

Norman,Joe, Jim,Paul and all the family I send my love. You're all part of my extended family. Polly was tough. I remember years ago when she was so sick and they felt she wouldn't make it. She proved them wrong. He blessed you with a lot more time. She was a sweetheart. Thanks Jess for telling her for me that I loved her. I pray our Lord will surround you all with His peace and love and strength especially Blazye and Ember and the rest of the kids.
